First Run - September 2014

By now, we’re sure you’re excited about the upcoming winter season, and with good reason. We have some excellent trips planned. However, first it is necessary to take care of a couple of items, one of which we wish we did not have to do.

Obituary: We are sad to report that Cindy Stowell, a long time LSSC member who most recently joined us on our January 2013 trip to Crested Butte, died on July 31, 2014.  We wish her husband Daniel and her family and friends our sincerest condolences during this difficult time. A photo of her with Dan and some of our group that was taken in Beaver Creek is attached to this newsletter.  http://www.tributes.com/obituary/show/Lucinda-C.-Stowell-101579024

Saturday, September 13: Back by popular demand, the LSSC is once again going to Exploration Acres, the largest corn maze in NW Indiana. This is opening weekend, and we will have a Picnic/Fire Pit Site there for the evening as well. For more information, check out the website at http://www.explorationacres.com/

And Now … The Trips

Wednesday, September 3: Kickoff Party at Sgt. Preston’s of the North, 7:00 PM—At last, sign-up day. We have four trips planned this year, including a new one for December.

Saturday, December 13, 2014: carpool trip to Perfect North in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. We are hoping that this date is late enough so that the slopes have plenty of snow but early enough to avoid typically large Saturday crowds and the X-Mas/New Year’s holidays. Details are TBA as we learn more about the conditions. Stay tuned.
